Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated recruitment agency, is offering an exciting permanent opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join a reputable organization’s Wales personal welfare team. This full-time position will be based in Pontypridd, with regular travel across the Wales region.

Salary: £37,713 per annum

Main Duties:

  • Lead and manage the Wales personal welfare team, ensuring a high-quality service for former miners and their dependents.
  • Manage casework efficiently, allocating and overseeing cases across the team.
  • Conduct assessments and provide various interventions like welfare benefits advice, advocacy, emotional support, etc., to clients with diverse needs.
  • Monitor service performance, addressing practice issues, and providing necessary support to the team.
  • Act as the safeguarding lead, ensuring adherence to safeguarding policies and appropriate actions.
  • Coordinate home visits and deliver interventions, including support with mobility, social isolation, and financial issues.
  • Keep updated with relevant legislation and share information within the team and the organization.

Requirements of this job:

  • Degree in social work or equivalent qualification with current professional registration.
  • Experience in leading/managing a social care team, prioritizing caseloads, and working under pressure.
  • Background in community-based social care, especially with older people and/or disability services.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits system and relevant legislation/practice in older people, mental health, and disability sectors.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, good organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Valid driving license and flexibility for travel across a wide geographic area with occasional overnight stays.

Desirable:

  • Experience in social work practice teaching or practice teacher status.
  • Previous work in the charity sector in a social care environment.
  • Understanding of issues facing former mineworkers and mining communities.
