Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency has an exciting Locum opportunity available for an experienced Social Worker to join a well-established Children’s service based in Fort William. 

Team/Specialism: Justice

Pay Rate: £38 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum, 3-Months

Hours: Full-time. 35 hours per week.

Duties:

  • Providing statutory Reports for the Courts and Parole Board
  • Supervising, managing and working with individuals subject to statutory supervision in line with National Outcomes & Standards for Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System (2010) to reduce reoffending, promote social inclusion and contribute to community safety and public protection
  • Providing statutory Social Work duties to individuals remanded or serving a custodial sentence at HMP Inverness
  • Providing support to individuals being liberated from prison who are willing to engage in voluntary throughcare
  • Working closely with SPS and Community Based Social Work Services to provide statutory duties within the Prison setting in accordance to the Service Level Agreement
  • Work effectively in community and prison settings
  • Preparing Criminal Justice Social Work Reports
  • Providing Reports to the Parole Board
  • Participating in ICM and if required RMT meetings
  • Providing information, advice, and a service to the Courts
  • Representing Criminal Justice Services in the Court setting
  • Liaison with other sections of Health and Social Care as well as other professionals and voluntary/3rd Sector groups
  • Liaison with Children and Family Social Work Department appropriately
  • Interviewing offenders/accused persons in Court
  • Working with individuals subject to a period of Structured Deferred Sentence
  • Working with individuals subject to Community Payback Orders and providing Throughcare services to people in prison and the community
  • Delivering interventions, including Moving Forward: Making Changes and the Caledonian System
  • Providing Home Circumstances Reports to prisons
  • Utilise other services to complement Social Work tasks
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with Policy and National Outcomes & Standards, including using computers
  • Use ViSOR, the Home Office owned violent and sex offender register
  • Attend Team Meetings, Case Conferences, Reviews, Parole Hearings and other meetings as require
  • Participate in regular supervision with appropriate Team Manager
  • Work within the policies and procedures of the Service for Health and Safety
  • Participate in any other Service duty, including civil emergencies, as required by the Director of Care & Learning
  • Provide statistical information as required
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the level of the post

Requirements of the Social Worker:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children’s Services
  • Be familiar with Violent Incident and Accident reporting procedures and comply with them
  • Have an understanding of the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace, and familiarise themselves with the Health & Safety Procedures
