Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Children With Disabilities & Additional Needs Team to work full time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £60,267 per annum.

Main duties:

  • The post holder will be based in the Child in Need and will undertake, as required, social work led needs assessments within current service thresholds, in close liaison with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To ensure children’s holistic needs are met by working closely with parents, carers, colleagues and other agencies, ensuring the child is central to all planning.
  • To form positive working relationships with professionals from other departments and agencies.
  • To prepare reports for meetings, reviews, panels and court and to represent the committee for health and social care in legal proceedings.
  • To maintain case recordings and files in accordance with professional standards.
  • To ensure the Legislation, Policies and Procedures in relation to disabled children are adhered to and to contribute to the development of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
  • To actively participate in the delivery of multi-agency training to enhance understanding of the issues for disabled children and their families.
  • To promote the rights and independence of service users, encouraging choice, involvement and empowerment.
  • To participate in identified initiatives to develop opportunities for children and young people to participate in the development of services and service delivery.
  • The post holder will also, as required, take a lead professional role for certain cases, where it has been identified that the child, young person and their family, require an ongoing social work service.
  • The post holder will case hold, advise, support and co-work the assessment and social care planning process, ensuring that all aspects of need are identified on a multi-disciplinary basis and care plans, transition and pathway plans address aspects of need, relating to disability.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be determined by the Head of Service.

Requirements of this role:

  • Social work qualification with registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in managing social work caseloads and supervising others.
  • Experience of community and/or group work.
  • Knowledge of children’s health and social care systems, agencies, and relevant legislation.
