Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Support Worker to work up to full time based in a Care Home in Swindon.
The salary for this permanent job is up to £22,485
Main Duties:
- To be available to work within a flexible rota during nights and days, weekends, sleep ins and bank holidays, to cover the needs of the service users
- Support line managers with people transitioning from residential settings to their own home
- Support Service Users in implementing a person centered care and support plan, outlining the fundamental independent living skills, key skills and independence skills within the care settings or their home
- Make accurate and appropriate entries in Service User’s records, diaries and reports as necessary
- Ability to deal with complex behaviour that may challenge
- As appropriate and in consultation with the manager, address issues of concern on behalf of the service user. Support service users to advocate for themselves as much as possible
- Organise and participate in appropriate activities and enable Service Users to take part in a wide variety of activities
- Administers medication in accordance with the standards set by the Regulatory Body and the policies and procedures
- Work positively and effectively with relatives, advocates and others involved with Service Users
- Liaise with staff from other departments to provide a consistent approach to all aspects of Service User care
- To participate in the monitoring of service users mental and physical health, and to support and enable them to access Health agencies as required
- Respond appropriately to incidents as they occur and report to senior staff accordingly
- For a transitional period, you are required to work with the service user in their current placement which maybe out of area, and may require you to stay for a period for training
Requirements of this job:
- Level 2 in Health and Social Care qualification or equivalent, or willingness to undertake this
- Experience of caring for older people
- Experience of working in the community or care home on a one-to-one basis with service users
- Knowledge of the issues affecting vulnerable people
- Understanding of health and safety manual handling issues
- Understanding of the need to keep within professional boundaries
- The ability to be flexible to fit in with the shift patterns including days, nights, weekends and bank/public holidays.
