Job Description

Global Healthcare Jobs is currently seeking an Experienced Practitioner to join a residential children’s home based in Walsall.  

This residential children’s home supports vulnerable young people who have complex emotional and mental health difficulties.

  • Salary to rise incrementally to £26,757 per annum based on annual performance
  • 40 hours per week, shift work including weekends and bank holidays
  • Overtime and Bank holidays paid time

Duties

  • Develop a direct programme of work aimed at building life skills, teaching young people to strengthen their risk competence, develop a restorative learning approach to behaviour and manage their own safety within the community
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of the young people living in the home by adhering to and updating their risk assessment as well as taking practical steps to ensure their safety
  • Identify, record and report any risk of harm or child protection concerns in accordance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Identify with young people what they need to develop their physical, emotional, behavioural and social wellbeing and resilience
  • Ensure each young person’s placement plan is followed and updated as appropriate to reflect their changing needs and be proactive in working to achieve the aims of the local authority care plan
  • Encourage young people to fully participate in society by developing links with the community, expanding their social network and understanding of social responsibility
  • Contribute to team meetings, regular supervisions in line with the home and participate in performance appraisal scheme

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (Desirable)
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working and supporting young people to achieve their full potential
  • Knowledge of key legislation regarding Safeguarding practices relating to children and young people
  • Flexibility to work 40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays
