Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Senior Support Worker to work full time based in Carshalton Beeches, Surrey.

The salary for this permanent job is up to £24,960 – £29,120

Our client is an “Outstanding” CQC rated residential care home providing personal care to six people with learning disabilities in one adapted home.

The service has been developed and designed in line with the principles and values that underpin registering the right support and other best practice guidance. This ensures that people who use the service can live as full a life as possible and achieve the best possible outcomes. The principles reflect the need for people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live meaningful lives that include control, choice, and independence. People using the service receive planned and co-ordinated person-centred support that is appropriate and inclusive for them.

Main purpose of the role

The Senior Support Worker will be responsible to the Home Manager. The main purpose of the role is to enable service users to lead a valued and fulfilling life. Maximising their service users intellectual, emotional and social potential. All whilst working in accordance with the home’s philosophy of care and values, policies, procedures and all relevant legislation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Being accountable for your own high level of standards of practice
  • Enhancing and enriching quality of life for all our service users. Acting as a Key Worker to them all
  • Supporting users to plan and engage in social activities, in line with their individual programme. This includes helping service users stay connected with their families and friends
  • Maintain the general health, wellbeing and emotional needs of each service user
  • Ensuring a high standard of personal care (which could include some intimate care), attending health appointments and responding appropriately to any medical or health concerns
  • To administer medication following home policies and legislation
  • Committing to the safeguarding and welfare of the service users. Including following any and all H&S procedures and reporting any incidents or concerns around safety and safeguarding
  • Support the personalised development of service users, recognising their talent sensitivities and beliefs
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, following home policies and legislation
  • Involve service users in maintaining the cleanliness of the home to a high standard
  • Partake and be involved with the team, contributing to a culture of open communication and constructive feedback. This includes attending and contributing in staff meetings
  • Attend all relevant training and development, taking responsibility for your own learning and putting it into practice
  • Maintain a working knowledge of and comply with CQC and home policies, procedures and guidelines
  • To work in accordance of the home values of; Opportunity to achieve, Dignity & Respect, Shared Responsibility and Sustainability
  • Undertake wakeful nights on a rota basic, as determined by the needs of the service
  • Any other duties that may be reasonably require
