Job Description

Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Sonographer to work in Perth, Australia on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Sonographer job is £48,000 – £52,000 per annum.

Duties:

  • Undertake all required ultrasound examinations and assessments of patients in conjunction with practice standards and high medical ethics at all times, including respecting the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality
  • Works in accordance with operational and clinic protocols, systems and standards of the clinics in order to achieve quality, cost and productivity targets
  • Works in accordance with systems, policies and procedures
  • Conforms to ASAR’s standards, including commitment towards continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Interprets ultrasound requests and performs imaging procedures in accordance with policies and protocols
  • Actively supports the sonographer coordinators, 2ICs, and manager in their roles
  • Consistently utilises skills and multi-tasking techniques to utilise rooms optimally and to maximise efficiency
  • Takes a structured approach which allows prioritising and multitasking maximize time to ensure optimum productivity output
  • Coordinates work schedule with technical manager and front desk to monitor lists and assure workload coverage
  • Regularly reviews the intranet for relevant updates and announcements
  • Takes appropriate action if equipment malfunctions and report incident
  • Other duties as required, in line with reasonable expectations of the role
  • Manages all bookings and daily workflow in a manner that is efficient, accurate and timely
  • Maximises clinic and staff resources to enable imaging of unexpected, urgent or priority patients to ensure optimum productivity in the clinic
  • Applies professional knowledge and judgment when performing tasks
  • Works in an area that requires high levels of specialist knowledge and skill
  • Performs own daily scanning lists as well as actively supervise/assist trainees or junior staff
  • Contributes to the development of professional knowledge and skills as demonstrated by positive impacts on service delivery, positive referral outcomes and measurable improvements in outcomes

Requirements of the Sonographer:

  • Has a good working knowledge of all sonographic equipment
  • Has a good understanding of imaging protocols and safety guidelines
  • Recognises limitations imposed by patients, equipment, own expertise and uses initiative to raise questions with clinic colleagues in the most appropriate and timely manner
  • Recognises the significance of all structures visualised and ability to differentiate normal from abnormal and recognise artefacts
  • Bachelor of Science (Medical Imaging) or recognised equivalent
  • Australian Sonography Accreditation Registry (ASAR) accredited post graduate certificate in sonography
  • Eligibility for membership with ASAR in the field of general or obstetric sonography
