Locum IRC Nurse role available in Consett!

Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency is looking for an experienced and dedicated IRC Nurse to take on an exciting position based in Consett. This role will be based at multiple sites. 

Pay Rate: £32.50 – £35.00 per hour (assignment rate)

Contract: Locum & ongoing contract

Hours: Full time

Duties:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, undertake reception screening, and offer clinics such as triage, long-term conditions, suturing, wound care, ear irrigation, and sexual health
  • Run health promotion / harm-minimisation clinics in specific disease-related areas
  • Ensure that clinics run smoothly and meet national and local priorities and guidelines
  • Respond to medical emergencies as an emergency responder, co-ordinating care, and providing primary clinical care of a high standard to patients
  • Deliver a high standard of clinical care in the primary care, emergency care, harm minimisation, health promotion and occupational health remits of prison healthcare; within the extent of your role, experience and level of expertise
  • Undertake initial and follow-up individual health assessments at reception and health screening, referring to appropriate guidelines
  • Assist the development of evidence-based nursing procedures / protocols in the prison setting
  • Identify shortfalls in stock levels / failure of equipment and liaise with the senior supervisor on duty to arrange replenishment

Requirements of the IRC Nurse:

  • Must be registered on the NMC and must have a relevant qualification in nursing
  • Prison clearance – ideally yes, but not essential
  • Prison experience is essential
