Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Occupational Hygienist to work in Plymouth on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 08:00 am – 18:00 pm).

The salary for this permanent Occupational Hygienist job is £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (competitive – based on experience & qualifications).

Duties:

  • Be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance in control of workplace health risks, and carry out occupational hygiene surveys and assessments
  • Develop and implement systems to embed occupational hygiene into OH delivery and evidence best governance practices to achieve sustainable workplace health for our client
  • Be involved in the continuing development of an integrated OH service that provides a multi-disciplinary approach to management of workplace health

Requirements of the Occupational Hygienist:

  • Several years experience of full time work in the occupational hygiene field, addressing a wide range of occupational hygiene topics
  • Minimum Licentiate of the Faculty of Occupational Hygiene (LFOH), holding the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH) of the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS)
  • Experience with implementation and development of workplace health risk management programmes is desirable, although full training can be provided
  • Experience working in liaison with clinical occupational health staff is desirable, but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to gain the cooperation of the workforce
  • Analytical approach and a high level of attention to detail
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to operate effectively under pressure
  • Negotiating skills and the capacity to persuade others to achieve results and initiate action
  • Operational decision-making skills
  • The ability to work independently and part of a team to meet health objectives
  • Good technical and IT skills for using specialist equipment
