NHS Senior Clinical Pharmacist – Antimicrobial Stewardship

Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Band 8a Senior Clinical Pharmacist to work in Guernsey on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Senior Clinical Pharmacist job is £63,663 – £76,291 per annum.

Duties:

• Work as part of the multidisciplinary team within the hospital to develop and deliver an antimicrobial stewardship improvement plan
• Help reduce development of resistance by promoting stewardship ideals and reducing inappropriate consumption of antimicrobials
• Support the consultant microbiologists and infection control team in developing a hospital wide culture that reduces hospital acquired infection and supports prudent use of antimicrobials
• Plan and undertake or support others in the hospital to undertake clinical audit relating to antimicrobial use, deliver and undertake training relating to use of antimicrobials
• Provide leadership and a specialist clinical pharmacy service to a defined clinical specialty
• Provide clinical support as a senior pharmacist to the dispensary team

Requirements of the Senior Clinical Pharmacist:

• Demonstrate good clinical knowledge by keeping up to date with all relevant areas of clinical pharmacy practice
• Ability to concentrate on complex and demanding tasks
• Be flexible in developing the role with initial and on-going discussions with the designated manager
• Pharmacy Degree (MPharm or equivalent)
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Postgraduate diploma / MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
• Evidence of ongoing professional development, including CPD
• Non-medical Prescriber qualification (or willingness to complete)
• Relevant and in-depth post registration experience of antimicrobial stewardship in a NHS hospital (or equivalent)
• Extensive clinical hospital pharmacy experience, including broad knowledge base of clinical pharmacy across a range of specialties
• Team Leadership Experience
• Experience in organising and leading committees/meetings
• Evidence of training experience or qualification
• Evidence of research or project work
• Previous teaching / mentoring experience
