Community Mental Health Nurse Pay Rate: £31.36 per hour (assignment rate)
Location: The Gables Community Mental Health Team, Braintree
Contract Type: Locum ongoing contract

Duties of the Community Mental Health Nurse:
- Support the Clinical Manager to ensure Performance and Activity targets are met as required for both Health and Social Care Commissioners
- Provide supervision and clinical/professional leadership to the team, promoting the values of the team.
- To provide effective management support, clinical supervision and appraisal, and ensuring effective mentorship for all students allocated to the team.
- To provide some care co-ordination to more complex cases and provide clinical guidance on case management.
- To undertake appraisal and ensure training needs are met and all training opportunities are explored to ensure the ongoing skill mix within the team based on changing requirements of the service.
- To act as budget signatory ensuring appropriate financial controls in the absence of the Clinical Manager, i.e. health-roster and invoicing.
- To ensure effective lines of communication and good networking exist both within the Partnership Trust, and our wider community partners other partners invested in the delivery of safe services in the local health economy.
- To develop cohesive links with Primary Care and carers building a profile of needs presented by the population.
- To deputise for the Clinical Manager in their absence, leading meetings etc as, directed.
- On a daily basis manage all the referrals coming into the service effectively, providing appropriate allocation of the workload, to clinicians in the team considering the specialities within the MDT.
- Put in place in collaboration with the Clinical Manager effective workload management systems to ensure there is an equitable distribution of work appropriate to the staff members’ grade and experience.
- To both provide and ensure the availability of specialist advice, support and consultation to staff within the team, outside teams and other agencies.
- To ensure all care is delivered in accordance with the Trust’s CPA guidelines, Models of Care and Strategies.
- Develop innovative practice to deal creatively with service demands for referrals, allocations, monitoring of KPI’s and caseload management.
- Provide education and support to develop service users understanding of mental illness and training packages for staff.
- Be competent in use of relevant screening and assessment tools and supervise lower banded staff to undertake this function.
- Lead in the continuing development of a high quality service that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways / packages and NICE and DH Guidance.
- Identify, assess and manage clinical and non-clinical risks/hazards in your area through the completion of the relevant risk assessments.
- Participate in audit and research.
Requirements of the Community Mental Health Nurse:
- Degree or equivalent in Mental Health Nursing
- Experience working as a Community Psychiatric Nurse
- NMC Registration
- Experience working in an NHS setting
