Band 6 Biomedical Scientist – Haematology

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Haematology team in Redhill. Key Responsibilities

Carry out high-level analytical work across the haematology department to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic services.

Process and analyse specimens independently or as part of a team, interpreting clinical information to produce reliable results.

Perform and interpret complex biochemical profiles and microscopy examinations, including follow-up testing based on initial outcomes.

Prioritise urgent cases efficiently and adapt to the clinical demands of different Consultants and departments.

Conduct molecular diagnostic tests with precision and adherence to departmental standards.

Organise and manage workload effectively, especially during peak times or core/non-core working hours.

Authorise results using established protocols, consulting with senior staff when needed to ensure accuracy.

Collaborate with pathology teams, support staff, and external laboratories to maintain a seamless diagnostic service.

Support junior team members and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Essential Requirements

HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist

Proven experience within a haematology setting at Band 6 level

Strong analytical and diagnostic interpretation skills

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in high-pressure situations

Flexibility to work core and non-core hours as required

A car driver is preferred due to potential travel across sites
