Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Deputy Home Manager within the Residential Homes Team to work full time based in Blackpool

The salary for this permanent job is up to £30,000 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Will have a personal active involvement in establishing and maintaining high standards of care practice
  • Will work with the Home Manager in implementing and monitoring overall aims and specific objectives in keeping with statements of purpose for the establishment and Children and Families and Trust policy and requirements
  • Will give leadership in the day-to-day management of the home and its activities, care of equipment and the building, and general management of resource, and in the absence of the Home Manager take overall management responsibility
  • Work with the Home Manager in the organisation and deployment of staff, involving and maintaining of a duty rota to ensure adequate staff always cover
  • Work with the Home Manager to effectively manage the budget allocated to the establishments
  • Will lead in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
  • As delegated by the Home Manager, arrange and as required, chair regular client reviews and case conferences, and admission/discharge meetings, ensuring appropriate involvement of clients, relatives, professional colleagues and managers
  • Ensure the organisation of appropriate social, occupational, activities both within the home and the community, and the maintenance of an enabling environment which will encourage and lead to independence and autonomy
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the neighbours and community, parent, teachers, social workers, other agencies and professional colleagues, as appropriate to the needs of clients
  • Ensure appropriate supervision and assistance for users exhibiting challenging behaviour and with the understanding of special needs arising from physical or other disability
  • Compile staff development programmes which are flexible and responsive to current trends and requirements, so designed to enhance their skills and abilities
  • Ensure planned periods of professional supervision for each member of staff as directed by the Home Manager
  • Submit regular records and reports as required by the Department and Children and Families Management Team
  • Be physically able to undertake and implement physical restraint in line with Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)
  • Ensure that drugs and medication are always kept secure and administered by the senior staff on duty
  • To participate in the “sleeping in” rota
  • Strict confidentiality in respect of clients, families and colleagues will be maintained

Requirements of this job:

  • QCF L3 / L4 Residential Childcare or NVQ3 Children & Young People (or Equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • 2 Years’ Experience in residential childcare
  • The desire and passion to safeguard, motivate, and inspire the young people in your care
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues, managers, in addition to working closely alongside other external professionals
  • The characteristics and personality to handle challenging behaviour effectively and professionally
  • The flexibility to undertake shift work including weekends, evenings & sleep in duties
