Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work in St Helier on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Clinical/Counselling Psychologist job is £67,874 – £74,599 per annum.

Duties:

  • Deliver a high-quality specialist psychology service to adults accessing support from the Mental Health Care Group
  • Providing highly specialised assessments, formulations, and interventions to adults over the age of 18 years with complex/ highly complex needs and presentations, utilising a range of psychological approaches and interventions
  • Supervision of newly qualified psychologists, development of peer supervision and advocacy of psychological theories and interventions among other professionals

Requirements of the Clinical/Counselling Psychologist:

  • A recorded/registered doctoral level qualification in clinical or counselling psychology and eligible for chartered status with the British Psychological Society
  • Registration with the HCPC
  • Demonstrates advanced theoretical & practical knowledge of psychology and specialist area to inform assessment of clients
  • Deep understanding of working with common and complex/severe enduring mental health issues and alcohol use disorders within a professional role and how clients may present in Primary/secondary Care
  • Understanding of the supervision of others in a professional and clinical capacity
  • Working knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health/benefits and employment systems
  • Good understanding/ability to critique use of medication in mental health and alcohol misuse
  • Knowledge of how to carry out risk assessments within scope of practice
  • Familiarity with codes of practice of Health and Social Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Good understanding of safeguarding
  • Able to demonstrate a range of information technology skills i.e. an ability to effectively use IT equipment and role critical software
  • Able to provide clinical supervision to high intensity staff/MDT clinicians/ assistant and junior psychologists in the service
  • Well-developed skills for assessing clients in specialist caseload
  • Able to understand and manage a range of complex facts or situations requiring analysis
  • Strong problem-solving acumen
  • Excellent communication; verbal and written
  • Communicates effectively across all levels and media
  • Ability to adapt personal style in order to influence others and gain support for ideas
  • Demonstrates empathy towards individual clients
  • Able to remain professional and effective under pressure
  • Committed to continuous service improvement and also continued professional development for themselves and their team
  • Self-directed and resourceful
  • The ability to work between multiple specialisms and with different professions
  • Experience of working as a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist within a competency framework
  • Experience with routine outcome monitoring
  • Relevant training undertaken in relation to adult/child safeguarding
  • Knowledge of service procedures and protocols
