Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Independent Reviewing Officer to work Full Time based in Hillingdon.

The salary for this permanent Independent Reviewing Officer job is up to £59,328per annum.

Main duties:

  • To comply with statutory guidance, current legislation and the IRO Handbook by providing independent chairing of reviews of looked after children, and to attend and participate in meetings relevant to the care and decision making for children and young people.
  • To ensure that the views of children and young people are heard and given due attention and to ensure that children and young people actively participate in these processes.
  • To produce accurate records of these reviews. Following the review to monitor and audit cases, ensuring the regular review and monitoring of individual care plans and achievements of appropriate and timely outcomes for children and young people.
  • To carry out quality assurance monitoring, report findings and make recommendations about the practice improvements required.
  • To contribute to the development of recording, evaluation and quality assurance systems for children subject to child protection plans and looked after children. This will include analysis of information sharing with managers and social workers to maintain and promote high practice standards.
  • To act as consultant to managers, social work staff and other agencies about policy, procedure and practice relating to safeguarding and Children Looked After with the aim of providing direction and guidance to ensure standards are maintained and procedures are adhered to.
  • To develop clear, outcome-based plans to secure a child’s future safety and well-being.
  • To ensure the implementation of care plans thorough monitoring and liaison with social workers and managers and to use the escalation procedure as and when required.
  • To establish service and practice standards for all aspects of Children and Families services, develop and implement quality monitoring and audit systems and contribute to the development of performance culture.
  • To identify patterns of concerns emerging not just around individual children but more generally in the collective of children subject to a child protection plans and looked after through performance systems that identify these in service delivery.
  • To be responsible for bringing to the attention of the relevant manager any lapse in procedure which is evident and take appropriate action to ensure good practice.
  • To provide consultation to Team Managers, Advanced Practitioners and Social Worker staff through linking with teams and the duty manager role.
  • To deputise for the Safeguarding Manager, ensuring that resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.
  • To develop, promote and sustain positive and productive internal and external, working relationships and partnerships.

Requirements of this Independent Reviewing Officer role:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
