Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Lead Pharmacist to work in Jersey on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Lead Pharmacist job is £67,874 – £74,599 per annum.

Duties:

  • Act as the lead for Pharmacy services and medicines optimisation in Immunotherapy. Assure and provide effective supervision and continuous improvement of, Immunotherapy services to a national standard, and participate in delivery
  • Plan, provide, develop, and share in delivering, an effective, timely and patient focussed specialist pharmacy service in Immunotherapy
  • Promoting safe, economical and evidenced based use of medicines
  • Maintain, develop and implement systems of good practice to ensure that the service complies with legislation and current standards, with particular reference to competence and audit
  • Work with other clinical staff on the wards/departments to identify opportunities to enhance systems and/or modernise practice, and to act as the link in planning and implementing this
  • Assure compliance with medicines management policies, current legislation and local, regional or national standards and guidance
  • Monitor, audit and report on medicines management in Immunotherapy, including drug use, prescribing and expenditure trends, and clinical governance issues, and make appropriate recommendations to support improvements in these areas
  • Develop and support implementation of systems for providing assurance of adherence to NICE guidance and Technology Appraisals for patients receiving Immunotherapy and other high-cost medicines
  • Undertake horizon scanning work, including consideration of biological switches, to support budget forecasting
  • Work collaboratively across the Dermatology, Gastroenterology, and Rheumatology Multi- Disciplinary Teams supporting the provision of an integrated clinical pharmacy service to these areas

Requirements of the Lead Pharmacist:

  • Vocational (four year) master’s degree in pharmacy
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (obtained by completing one-year post- graduate pre-registration training with final examination)
  • Post-graduate MSc or Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy
  • Independent prescribing qualification
  • Specialist knowledge of therapeutics of common disease states and frequently used therapeutic regimes
  • Well-developed knowledge of pharmaceutical technical and clinical procedures acquired through training and experience
  • Knowledge of checking dispensed prescriptions and supervising staff within the Pharmacy
  • Post-registration experience in hospital practice, including experience in clinical pharmacy practice
  • Completed comprehensive rotations in hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
