Job Description
Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist to work in Winchfield on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).
The salary for this permanent Occupational Therapist job is up to £36,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
Duties:
- Participating in comprehensive initial assessment of new patients, following the assessment process for OT
- Working with an allocated caseload of patients in Occupational Therapy functional assessment and treatment using a range of Model of Human Occupation and other standardised assessments
- Enabling patients to address specific needs in relation to health and well-being, respecting their dignity, wishes and beliefs and involving them in decision making and setting goals that are meaningful to them as part as their recovery
- Risk assessment is key to identifying and assessing potential risks involved in occupations and activities, for example outside of the ward and in the community, and taking appropriate action
- Assessing and providing environmental adaptations to facilitate daily living to support those with limited mobility/transfer skills
- Devising and carrying out treatment plans taking into consideration limited cognition, communication and risk factors using adaptive and graded approaches
- Goal-setting with patients to ensure effective treatment and using an OT outcome measure
- Contributing feedback to clinical discussions and the weekly clinical team meetings and to external agencies involved in the patients care
- Carrying out individual sessions on/off the ward and in community settings
- Gaining experience of working in open and closed groups on and off the ward
- Working alongside and supervising support staff in the delivery of the ward programme
- Engaging and communicating effectively with patients, using a range of communication strategies, taking into account barriers of communication e.g. cognitive impairment, physical and sensory impairments
- Keeping up to date and accurate clinical records, maintained in accordance with professional and departmental standards, to provide a clear record of intervention of the OT service and ensure confidentiality is maintained
- Evaluating interventions informally after each session and through regular review reports
- Attending CPA’s and provide a formal written and verbal report
Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:
- This role can be adapted to suit a Graduate OT who is interested in working in this environment though experience and additional training will be recognised for OT’s with more experience
- Willing to undertake a DBS check
- Degree or equivalent within Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registration
