Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist to work in Isle of Wight on a full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Occupational Therapist job is £35,392 – £42,618 per annum.

Main Duties:

  • To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placement
  • To provide leadership for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor
  • To contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy Service
  • To monitor, evaluate in detail and modify complex treatments for service users with multiple needs in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention
  • To contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  • To effectively plan and prioritise own workload, arranging appointments as necessary
  • To demonstrate and apply a broad level of understanding of the effect of disability across a number of fields.
  • To work with the interdisciplinary teams in the designated work area.
  • To prescribe minor and major adaptations to the service user’s physical and social environment.
  • To prescribe specialist equipment and standard wheelchairs.
  • To delegate intervention as appropriate.
  • To undertake manual handling risk assessments for individual service users
  • To undertake home assessments and apply clinical reasoning to the risks associated to the safety and independence of the service user at home
  • To work as an autonomous single practitioner dealing with physical and psychological aspects and the effect that has on the domestic and community environment of the child, their carers and family.
  • To assess and take the appropriate Health and Safety measures before, during and after clinical intervention in the hospital, community, and home environment.
  • To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of patients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

Requirements of the Occupational Therapist:

  • Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
  • State registration with HCPC
  • Post registration experience as an Occupational Therapist relevant to speciality
  • Documented evidence of Continuing professional development
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge and application of current best practice in Occupational Therapy relevant to speciality
  • Application of the Occupational Therapy process with defined client groups
  • Applied knowledge of treatment techniques relevant to improve and maintain Occupational Performance and Processing for the defined client group.
  • Applied knowledge of effective planning and coordination of treatment packages
  • Demonstrated understanding of team dynamics
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office) to support Occupational Therapy interventions
