About the Role
As a Sister/Charge Nurse – Theatre, you will play a pivotal role in the development and delivery of high-quality patient care. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you will promote a culture of clinical excellence, lead by example, and support the growth and education of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model by demonstrating advanced clinical expertise in anaesthetic and recovery practices, particularly within emergency services.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement evidence-based protocols, standards, and policies in line with the Clinical Governance Framework.
  • Take the lead in creating a cohesive and collaborative multi-disciplinary team, fostering commitment and a positive working environment.
  • Provide tailored support to patients and carers throughout treatment programmes, offering advice and acting as a reliable point of contact.
  • Ensure infection prevention principles are embedded within the department, challenging poor practice where necessary.
  • Safeguard the welfare of all patients, adhering to robust safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of evidence-based practice by conducting clinical audits and applying research to improve patient outcomes.
  • Disseminate research findings and foster critical analysis to encourage best practices across the team.
  • Contribute to the professional development of staff by teaching, mentoring, and assessing learning in practice.
  • Support team members in achieving their professional goals and developing their clinical skills.

Requirements
To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Be a Registered Nurse (with an anaesthetic course) or an Operating Department Practitioner skilled in anaesthetic and recovery practice.
  • Hold a 1st Level Registered Nurse qualification with 4 years of post-qualifying experience, including at least 2 years in a specialty area.
  • Have a Diploma/1st Degree or be working towards 120 credits at Level 6, with a relevant post-qualifying specialty award.
  • Possess a Teaching/Mentorship/Assessment of Learning in Practice qualification or equivalent.
