Social Worker – Adult Safeguarding
Location: Sutton, UK | Rate: £32.00 per hour | Contract: Ongoing Locum | Flexible: Full-Time or Part-Time

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely and proportionate assessments to identify outcomes for service users and carers.

  • Promote independence, enablement, and recovery through community-based interventions.

  • Work collaboratively in multi-agency teams to deliver integrated health and social care support.

  • Develop person-centred support plans with Support Planning Officers, incorporating personal budgets and Direct Payments.

  • Collaborate with Community Development staff to connect individuals with local services.

  • Apply risk management protocols and adult safeguarding procedures, also considering children’s safeguarding where necessary.

  • Complete assessments and reviews to high professional standards, aligned with service users’ goals.

  • Engage with carers and advocates, ensuring best interest decisions for individuals lacking mental capacity under the Mental Capacity Act.

  • Maintain accurate records using electronic case management systems.

  • Manage workload effectively, utilising supervision and reflective practice.

  • Base decisions on sound evidence and research while working closely with colleagues across departments.

  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive working environment.

  • Prioritise safety, escalating high-risk situations appropriately.

  • Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, local policies, and safeguarding protocols, while supporting the Council’s Equal Opportunities and Environmental Policies.
