Job Description
Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Emergency Duty Team to work full time based in Haringey.
The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £50,890 per annum.
Main duties:
- To work alone and take responsibility for the provision of an emergency social work service for children, families, mental health and community care.
- To ensure work is prioritised in order to ensure a safe and effective service.
- To provide professional advice in respect of child safeguarding policy and practice and to undertake investigation and initiate action to protect children where necessary.
- To investigate the circumstances of children at risk of harm, children in need and to support, advise and where necessary, take action to alleviate need where identified.
- To take decisions about the accommodation of children. To always consider if there is a connected person who could safeguard a child before the opinion of arranging a placement.
- To assess the need of statutory orders under the Children Act and where necessary arrange and action these.
- To ensure that the voice of a child is heard and recorded and where appropriate visit children and young people who present in crisis.
- To act as an Approved Mental Health Professional for the purposes of the Mental Health Act. To maintain this status by taking part in appropriate training, professional development and re-approval process. To inform, your line manager if you begin to act as an AMHP for another local authority.
- To respond to requests from Police transfer young people being held in custody to local authority accommodation.
- To be able to identify those issues about which it is necessary to inform or consult with senior staff.
- To participate in supervision and performance appraisal in accordance with the Council’s policy.
- To report any concerns about abuse or malpractice by colleagues, in line with the Council’s Whistle Blowing Policy.
- To liaise with other staff in the Council and partner agencies so as to promote effective working together.
- To record and share information to indicate case activity and any follow up actions/handover before going off duty in line with the case recording policy.
- To undertake any other relevant duties as required by the Team Manager.
Requirements of this role:
- A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
- Understanding of relevant legislation.
- Registered or eligible for registration.
- This post requires registration with the relevant health professional council/governing body (Social Care England).
