GHJ, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Support Worker within the Residential Service to work full time for Avenues Trust Group, based in Canterbury.

The salary for this permanent Support Worker job is up to £24,829 per annum.

Main duties:

  • To actively engage in delivering person-centred support, and positively encourage community links and relationships.
  • To empower the people we support to maximise choice and control over their own lives.
  • To support and promote Avenues vision, values and operating principles including person-centred active support and positive behaviour support.
  • Promote and uphold the dignity, rights and physical and emotional wellbeing of the people we support in line with Avenues Policies and Procedures and Frameworks.
  • Prioritise the goals and aspirations of the people who use the services first, by supporting them to be in control of their lives and express their views through continuous person-centred planning and reviews.
  • Actively seek out links with local groups, activities and facilities, enabling community connection, participation and inclusion.
  • To establish and promote professional relationships with colleague, families, and those connected to the people who use the services.
  • Safeguard the people we support by working in line with organisational and local procedures including medication and finance management.
  • Ensure the needs of the people we support are met, in line with their person-centred documentation including personal care and support in the community.
  • Take ownership of own personal development and the quality of work and be able to reflect on this and continue to improve.
  • Be responsive to the changing needs of the people we support and the resulting changes to the service.
  • Attend and contribute positively to the smooth running and effectiveness of the service through 1-1’s, team meetings and other appropriate forums.
  • Work with others to develop services in accordance with the requirements and aspirations of those that use them.
  • Read, understand and comply with Avenues Policies and Procedures and take responsibility for keeping up to date with information available to me including ones relevant to the people we support.
  • Understand and adhere to the guidance of other internal and external professionals that could include doctors, care managers, social care professionals, positive behaviour support partners and training teams.

Requirements of this Support Worker job:

  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles.
  • Understanding of Data Protection Regulations, including GDPR and the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of people’s personal, sensitive information.
