Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Team Leader within the Children’s Residential Team to work full time for Medway Council, based at Eden House.

The salary for this permanent Team Leader job is up to £39,632 per annum.

Main duties:

  • We are looking to recruit experienced and committed residential Team Leaders to manage the day to day running of a new children’s home, providing exceptional leadership to a team of experienced senior and support workers.
  • The team will provide a loving caring environment for children with behavioural and emotional difficulties. There is scope to develop the provision in the future.
  • The working environment is exceptional, with excellent facilities including a large garden with vegetable plots and a small orchard; there is ample car parking for staff and visitors. The interior has been renovated to a high standard and provides space for children to engage in a variety of activities.
  • Lead, manage and motivate staff, ensuring high quality professional supervision and performance development plans are completed which enhance individuals personal and professional development needs and contribute towards the outcomes delivered for children and young people.
  • Undertake daily monitoring and audits of medications stored within the home ensuring the medication policy and procedure is always applied consistently.
  • Actively encourage educational attainment and work in partnership with agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Promote children’s involvement within the home, and advocate for children and young people in meeting to ensure their views and wishes are listened to and responded to accordingly.
  • Encourage and support children to manage risk and take responsibility for their own lives, reflecting their chronological age and emotional and decision-making ability by empowering them to take responsibility for aspects of their care, health, education, interests and hobbies.
  • Plan activities which meet the needs and requests of the children and young people ensuring any requests for resources are presented in a timely manner.
  • Maintain children’s records by ensuring all information/recording relating to children is accurate and up to date and that essential record keeping is completed during and by the end of each shift to enable a comprehensive handover can be provided to members of the team.
  • At the discretion of the Head of Service, such other activities as may from time to time be agreed consistent with the nature of the job described above.

Requirements of this role:

  • Educated to GCSE standard.
  • NVQ 3 – Level 3 Diploma (QCF) qualified in Children and Young People’s workforce (or equivalent).
  • Experience of small budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience of multi-agency working.
  • Have experience of working in a children’s residential setting. With experience in a senior/supervisory role.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of trauma informed care.
  • You will hold a full driving licence.
