Global Healthcare Jobs, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Transport Manager to work Full Time based in Haringey.

The salary for this permanent Transport Manager job is up to £49,890per annum.

Main duties:

  • Carry out compliant procurement processes (including development of tender documents and evaluations), as prescribed by current Council procurement policy, contract standing orders and procurement strategies on behalf of business unit commissioners.
  • Provide regulatory, legal and corporate governance advice to transport providers, related to the procurement process, contract and specification development.
  • Develop best value sourcing options for consideration by the designated commissioner for specific procurements (e.g. multi/single source, framework, collaboration, type of procurement procedure) and which align with procurement strategies.
  • Manage, supervise and coordinate staff duties. Conduct regular appraisals and identify professional development opportunities for staff.
  • In conjunction with Council legal function, ensure procurement contracts are developed to provide clear and robust commercial arrangements and which address key performance criteria.
  • Support key stakeholders in supplier relationship and contract management, to ensure key performance indicators and service level agreements are embedded in all high risk, high value contracts.
  • Be fully informed about all public procurement and other regulatory changes that may affect council procurement and contractual operations.
  • Post holder is responsible for ensuring safe transportation of children and young people, including children with complex needs to and from school. This includes health and safety responsibilities and safeguarding duties.
  • An understanding and commitment to promoting and implementing the Council’s Equal Opportunities policies.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the basic duties and objectives of the post.

Requirements of this Transport Manager role:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
  • Extensive experience of managing and delivering complex and high value transport services under Procurement Contract Regulations in local government.
  • Ability to manage and deploy staff to support delivery of home school transport service (office staff, travel buddies and transport escorts).
  • To have an excellent knowledge of the School Transport Regulations (2014).
