GHJ, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for an Advanced Social Worker within the Fostering & Adoption Team to work Full Time based in Jersey.

The salary for this Advanced Social Worker job is up to £68,437 per annum.

Main duties:

  • Advanced Social Workers have their practice recognised as exemplary and provide leadership and professional wisdom to their colleagues and other professionals for work in situations of high complexity.
  • Provide constructive challenge to enhance, procedures and policies, promote innovation, and introduce new ways of working from recognised sites of excellence.
  • Make use of sophisticated, critical reasoning and both model and facilitate reflective and evidence-informed practice.
  • Providing specialist professional leadership, across services or organisations, in areas such as safeguarding and child protection. To contribute to the delivery of high-quality social work services to children and families to ensure the welfare of children is safeguarded and they are protected in accordance with the legal and statutory obligations of Jersey Children’s Service.
  • Providing professional mentoring and coach around practice development to groups of staff and students, including supporting less experienced professionals to develop defendable, autonomous decision-making skills.
  • Recognise when they need to intervene to make an autonomous professional decision, but also when to support and enable less confident or less experienced social workers or other professionals to take the lead in decision-making.
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context, to develop strong and effective working partnerships with other agencies and services involved with children and families, by providing professional consultation and challenge, to ensure that positive outcomes are achieved in all key areas of their lives.
  • Holistically assess individual needs and develop and design care and intervention plans that treat each person as a unique individual, in order to protect, promote and monitor the safety and welfare of children, young people and their parents/carers.
  • Deliver appropriate, open, accurate and straightforward communication to service users and carers, clearly explaining service policies and the professional role and responsibilities of the social work team including any statutory intervention which may prove necessary, in order to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of service users and carers.
  • Create and maintain clear and accurate records to ensure that all relevant information is held as required by established procedures and best practice and in line with data protection, confidentiality, disclosure and consent policies, always bearing in mind that such documents may be disclosable for the purpose of Serious Case Reviews, external inquiry and inspection, and to the Royal Court in respect of civil applications or in criminal proceedings associated with the protection of vulnerable individuals.

Requirements of the Advanced Social Worker job:

  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Registered or eligible for registration.
