Staff Nurse

Global Healthcare Jobs, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency looking for an experienced and dedicated Staff Nurse to work in York on a part time or full-time basis.

The salary for this permanent Staff Nurse job is £35,844 per annum.

Duties:

• Be responsible for providing high standards of nursing care that is safe, patient- centred and cost effective
• Ensure that the highest standard of evidence-based nursing care is delivered to all patients and their families
• Act as patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity and confidentiality are met
• Report any issues that are identified by patients or their relatives on a timely basis
• Ensure that all provision of nursing care is documented on a timely basis and accurately reflects the patient experience
• Ensure that individual care plans are followed
• Ensure meals are supervised and care plan around meals are followed
• With training and competency assessed carry out phlebotomy for patients
• Ensure a high standard of infection control and the prevention of all avoidable healthcare associated infections
• Administer all drugs and medications as per the local policies and procedures
• Report to the senior nurses any nursing issues of significance or concern
• Ensure that all policies, procedures, guidelines and work instructions that relate to nursing are followed
• Maintain sound and effective working relationships and communication with all hospital colleagues and consultants
• Maintain an appropriate standard of confidentiality
• Ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Children Act are fulfilled, as applicable
• Successfully complete the Immediate Life Support course on an annual basis, as per the policy Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Requirements of the Staff Nurse:

• Be able to pass Naso-gastric tubes in line with NG procedure
• Be able to administer meal replacement plans as prescribed by the hospital dietitian
• Hold as a minimum a valid ILS provider certificate
• Registered nurse
• Mentorship course
• Post registration experience 
• Experience within a surgical setting
